Here is the last cake I made last week. Hand drawn Marilyn Monroe face, with a black rim and red Chanel lipstick.

With the overwhelming orders from my shop I’ve decided to cut back on cake orders & cupcake orders. I will now only be taking orders for cake & cupcake toppers.
I will however take on special request for cake orders pending my shop schedule.
Today I made my cousin, Ebony, who lives next door to my Nana two mini lemon cakes. I wanted to cheer her up a bit, because she just had surgery.
A lot has been happening these past weeks. For starters, IM ENGAGED! whoopie! Big shocker. But you can read up all about my wedding plans and engagement here.
In cake news (shop news next post) I’ve been working on a Pirate ship cake for the past 2 weeks. The first cake I shaped like a ship and it was a disaster when I put the fondant on. Then I cut the cake in half to make it smaller, and left it in the freezer for 3 days because we ended up going on a weekend vacation. So, when I got back from the weekend I wasn’t feeling in the mood to make the cake, til yesterday of course.
This cake is for my nephew for his 3rd birthday. I have toppers in my shop for this cake on sale here.
HOW TO MAKE A FONDANT TREASURE CHEST
This week I will be making my nephews birthday cake! A pirate ship! I’m getting a head start on some of the little details.
- Take your colored fondant (i used brown) & shape it into a square. I used 2 cake smoothers to shape it.
- Take another piece of fondant and roll it to be a fat oval w/ your hands & then flatten what would be the bottom & both sides. Leave the top round. This piece will serve as the top of the chest.
- Carefully cut out a squarish hole in the bottom part of the chest. This doesn’t have to be perfect, no one will see it.
- I used a fondant tool to then make marks in both pieces to give the effect of “wood”
- Then I took strips of black and placed them on the pieces. I also gave the black fondant a print to give it a more fabric/leather look prior to cutting the strips.
- Lastly I added little brown dots & took a separate piece of fondant to add key hole (to make a key hole: use the end part of a paint brush to smooth a hole in the fondant & then a more pointer tool to make a line/rectangle, this should give your chest a more realistic look)
The gold coins I made in advance using gold luster dust and the map I just put together to add to the cake too.

Last weekend I baked a cake and a bunch of mini cupcakes for my brother & sister-in-law, Ali & Kris, neighborhood BBQ. I wanted the design of the cake to resemble my brothers backyard garden. Ali spend so much time keeping it in great condition.
I was so happy to find out that the teenage girls next door who baby sit Teagen and Graysen both enjoy decorating cakes too, so I put them to work along with my niece Teagen. The cake & cupcakes turned out amazing.
I didn’t notice till a couple of days later that I SPELLED WOODFIELD WRONG!!!! LOL…. hopefully no one noticed.
I keep forgetting to upload these photos by 1313 Photography.
I catered with a cake and cupcakes for a wedding in the summer. Everything on the cake was designed by me except the paper images by an etsy shop the bride found online.
You can see more of the photos here.
Enjoy!
